The House of Commons has rejected a motion to reduce the Army vote as a protest against the appointment of the Duke, of Connaught to the command at Aldershot.
In his speech upon the occasion, Mr Campbell-Dannenuai!, Secretary for War, implied that in the event of the Duke of Cambridge retiring, the Duko of Connaught would not sue ceod to the- Commaudership-in-chitf.
Mr H anbury, Conservative membar for Preston, demanded that the Crown should prosecute Sir F. Abel and Professor J)ewar.
The, Bee-rotary for War replied that while the War Office niles had not been broken in the matter, ho was obtaining the opinion of the Law Officers of the Crown on the whole question.
In Committee of Supply, in a discussion on an amendment to reduce the Army vote, Mr Robert William Rambnry, member for Preston, protested against the system of giving the troops 60 per cent frozen meat, supplied at 4J-d per lb.

C-jmpball-Bannerman, Secretary of State for th.3 War Department, replied- that the soldiers liked the frozen meat, and the de« partment had received nocomplainls a-; t ) the quality of the rations. He declared that if the army were canvassed it would be found that the ni'.'n were surprised at the goodness of their food.
Ml- Win. Wood:,!!, member for Tl..\nl«y, said the frozen meat was a * nutrition as could ha wished.
The amendment was rejected by a majority of 110.
At the Antwerp wool sales 4250 bales of Australian wool w^re offered, and 2107 sold. The attendance \va3 only medium, and there was but little animation in the competition. Tha prices realiz.nl were about i> par cent b^low London rates.
