English Strikes.
The Miners' Federation is issuing a ballot paper asking the men to decide upon three questions — (1) To agree to arbitration ; (2) to resume at the old rate ; or, (8) to accept a partial reduction.
The Miners in Nottinghamshire are stealing sheep, apples, and potatoes in order to avoid starvation.
Owing to the strike, ten thousand women and children in the Midlands are being fed daily by chavitable bodies.
In reply to a question in the House the Premier said he was aware that there were twenty thousand artisans unemployed. He believed it to be due to the recurrence of depression, and did not see how the Government could take any action to cope with it.
kbout 80,000 miners in South Wales have abandoned the sliding scale of pay, and have decided to join the Miners' Federation of Great Britain.
At a mass meeting of miners at Pontypridd, Glamorganshire, it was decided to resume work on Tuesday. The Wtlsh employers decline to discuss terms until the men return to work.
The Fifeßhire miners have resumed work.
