Gorton & Son's Stock Report
Last week we held a most successful sale of contractors' plant at Feilding belonging to Messrs Younger and Laing. The 8 draught horses were brought before the public in excellent order much to the credit of the vendors, and they realized higher prices than we remember for many years, 8 from £26 to £88 10a ; the average being £31 2s Gel. The plant was in good order and brought capital prices, the pile driving machine being the ouly article of value not sold, the bidding not reaching half the cost.
Good entries came forward at our stock sale at Feilding on Friday, all the sheep were sold at and after the sale, excepting one pen, and most of the cattle. Our quotations are : — Cattle— Fat bullocks, £1 12s 6d ; fat cows, £6 8s 6d ; spd. heifers, £4 10s to £5 ; heifers in calf, £4 Is ; 2£ year steerr, &i 17s ; 2 to 2£ year steers, £4 Is 6d ; milkers in calf, £5 2s.
* Sheep — Store wethers, 11s 9d to 12a ; ewes in lamb, lls ; mixed hoggets, 10s to 103 4d ; wether hoggets, lls Id. Pigs, lls to 17s 6d. Owing to heavy slips and bad roads we have decided not to hold our sale at Hunter. ville on 2nd Sep.teinber.
