Department of Agriculture.

Cattlk. • Auckland. — The trade from this district to Taranaki has almost stripped Auckland of cattle, so much so that stores are being brought back to meet the expected demand for turnip feeding. Napier. — Here and there, inBtances of canoer and tuber-culosis are noticeable. Wellington. — West Coast. A considerable number of cattle haye been destroyed, suffering from tuberculosis actinomycosis, and canoer. Cases of this kind are now becoming rare. " Wasters " are not so numerous as formerly greater care being given to feeding the calves owing to their rise in value.

North Wairarapa. — No report of any disease.

South Wairarapa.— The health of the cattle has been good. Marlborough. — There are few cattle in the district, and these are backward in breed with few exceptions. Cancer has been reported but not seen by inspector.

Nelson. — Heard of no disease.

Amuri. — Kaikoura. Health good. Found one cow with cancer and it was destroyed.

Otago. — Cattle with cancerous tumours have come oocassionally under notice, and worst oases destroy 3d. ' -.-• ... :

Maniototo. - No disease exists. Lake. — Health good. Had two cases of cancer.

Tapanui. — Looking well. One case cancer reported which was only a large knot of horn formed by the animal being branded too deeply. Balclutha.— Health good. Three cases of actinomycosis and two of tuberculosis reported. All killed.

Southland. Health good. Only two cases of cancer.
