Thermal Springs.
Hamner Plains. In the report to Parliament Mr Rogers says : — Last winter a large waiting-room was built on the west end of No. 2 house. This room is very comfortably furnished, and is heated by a gas stove. The gas that supplies this is collected from one of tho pools in a small gasometer, and is led in pipes to the .waitingroom and fixed to the stove. Two new tiled baths were erected in No. 2 bath house. The swimming pool has been enlarged to 88ffc by 28ft, and has been concreted right round the sides, and there are also concrete steps leading into it, and the bottom is boarded. The hot water from one of the pools is' laid on in pipes into it, which makes the water in the bath quite hot and clear. The number of baths taken for the year ended 81st March was 7,580, an increase of 219 more baths than the previous year. The principal cases treated were those suffering from rheumatism, asthma, sciatica, and shin affections. The majority ! of them were cured, anci the rej nminder very much bonefitted, by I the baths.
