* The annual general meeting of the above Cub was held at the Masonic Hall last evening, a large number of members being present. Mr Rhodes was elected to the chair, and he called on the secretary to read the minutes of the last general meeting, and a special meeting, after which they were confirmed. The annual report and balance* sheet was next read, which has already appeared in these columns, and was received with approval. '} The secretary stated that a matter had been purposely left out of the report, which he would like to mention to the meeting, and that, was the rough treatment some of the boats had received during the past season, and he trusted the .incoming committee would see that more care was taken in the future. \ The election of officials- was next proceeded with, and resulted as follows : — President, JV G. Proposed by Mr Cowles, seconded by Mr McCloskey — That the sum of 103 Gd be deposited by each candidate for membership at time of proposal, the amount to be deducted from the annual subscription should the candidate be elected, but in the event of rejection the amount to be returned. The secretary said he brought this forward on account of several persons who had been accepted as members, and after having used the Club's property, had failed to pay their subscriptions. He thought some such check was needed. Several other members having spoken on the subject, it was carried. Mr Curtis proposed, and Mr Stansell seconded — That private boats belonging to members of the Club be stored for winter months only in the Club's shed (providing there is sufficient room after the Club's boats are stored), at the rate of ss. Carried. The desirability of purchasing new boats was fully gone into, and Mr Stansell proposed, seconded by Mr McCloskey— That two new pleasure boats of the Rata type be bought. Mr Cook proposed, as an amendment, That no pleasure boats be bought by the club this season, but if the committee have sufficient money or see their way clear, to purchase a racing boat, the class of racing boat to be purchased to be determined at a general meeting of the club. Mr Williams seconded. On a vote beiug taken, tho proposition was carried, 12 voting for it, and 11 for the amendment. A hearty vote of thanks was tendered to the past committee, aud also to the secretary. The secretary was instructed on the motion of the chairman to convey to Mr Potter the thanks of the meeting for the assistance he had rendered since the inauguration of the club, aud also as Vicecaptain. Before the meeting dispersed the captain of the club (Mr J. R. Stansell) said he had great pleasure in presenting Mr Cowles with a small present in the shape of a set of gold sleeve-links and stud3, which had been subscribed for by members of the club.
