Te Whiti in Court.

-♦ — Te Whiti was brought into New Plymouth on warrant from Parihaka, and appeared in the Magistrate's Court on Wednesday morning in connection with a judgment summons. In answer to a question, Te Whiti said he did not know anything of European laws. He did not owe the money which Mr Stitt said was due. Examined by Mr Ken*; acting for the Deputy Official Assignee in Bankruptcy, he said he had no money and no land, and did not know anything about Stifct's debt. All the food he had had from Stittthat was good was paid for, and what was bad was sent back. Major Parris told Te Whiti that if he had appeared before he would have saved all this trouble. District Judge Kettle told Te Whiti he could return home. Te Whiti then made a speech, in which he said he was pleased with the decision of the Court, and in future would let the Judge settle matters. If he was in the wrong he was willing to be punished, and if the Court was wrong it should be pnnished.
