The Foxton Station.
From the Commissioners report on the working railways we obtain the following particulnrs about the Foxton station, by which it will be noticed, with satisfaction, that the traffic has considerably increased daring the last twelvemonths : — The total value received was £4,829 with £40 for "through" traffic. There were 9818 tickets sold besides 45 season tickets. The station despatched 463 parcels, 88 horses, 1 carriage, 53 dogs ; and received 1528 parcels, 87 horses, 4 carriages, and 108 dogs. In the live stock and goods department, there went outwards 6 drays, 28 cattle, 24 sheep 189 pigs, 120 tons chaff, 400 tons wool, 1458 tons firewood, 104 tons timber, 901 tons of grain, 2004 tons of merchandise, 1847 tons minerals, making a grand total of 6,835 tons. Inwards there were received 4 drays, 11 cattle, 1168 sheep, 252 tons chaff, 721 tons of wool, 2892 tons of firewood, 671 tons of timber, 289 tons of grain, 1094 tons of merchandise, 329 tons of minerals, making a grand total of 6250 tons. We notice that the other stations on the line are credited as follows :— Palmerston, £11,775 ; Feilding, £4105 ; Marton, £5,789.
