London.
All the surviving officers of H.M.S. Victoria are to be court-martialled. The proceedings will open on Monday. 'The French press states that Lord Duilerin, British Ambassador, has asked to be asked to be transferred from Paris. A look-out has been ordered in the shoe ti'ade, owing to local strikes. The miners in the Midland Counties and Lancashire favour a strike, but the Northumberland miners are against the proposal. A crisis is feared. In connection with the dispute in the coal trade, the colliery-owners insist that foreign competition necessitates the miners conceding a portion of the advances of 40 per cent obtained since 1889. The coal porters, sailors, and firemen will assist the miners if they decide on a strike.
