Notes and Events.
Overcrowding, what a horrible picture is this, as given by the Nonconformist committee of Birmingham. Cases are frequent in which a man, woman, and four or five ohildren sleep in one room, not unfrequently in one bed, and sometimes on the floor without a bed at all ; and it is by no means rare to find — beyond the number specified — that the lodger is added to the group.
