Owing to the run on the Californian banks, six suspensions are announced.
The documents said to be stolen trom the British Embassy had reference to the Secret Service List. Certain newspapers threaten to publish the official list of Deputies said to have been bribed.
Officers of the Embassy declare that the whole story is apocryphal.
M. Millevoye created a scene in the Chamber of Deputies by declaring that Great Britain had bribed M. Clemenceau to advocate the cession of Corsica. The majority ot the Chamber condemned the statement as an odious calumny, and this is regarded as a victory for M. Clemenceau. M.M. Millevoye and Deroulede have resigned their seats in the Chamber.
