Parliamentary Notes.
Thursday was the Premier's 48th birthday, and a number of Mr Seddoh's friends, including members of both Houses, assembled at the Parliamentary Buildings on Thursday night to wish him many happy returns of the day. The toast of Mr Seddon's health, proposed by the Hon T. Kelly, was received with en thusiasm. Other toasts, inoluding the health of Mrs Seddon and of the new Legislative Councillors, were also responded to. , the newly-appointed whips of the Liberal Party are Messrs Lawry and C. Ward is to introduce the Bank Accounts Audit Bill, providing for a State audit of bank accounts, the Civil Service Insurance Bill, and a Bill providing for a formal amendment of the Payment of Members TAot. Notice has-been given by the Hon J. McKenzie of the Cheviot ; County Bill, the Cheviot Hills Estate! Disposition ; Bill, tho Noxious; Weeds' Bill; -the Stock Bill (which is understood to" be on different lines to the measure introduotd^Jast year), and the tiffnd; Dr^M^Bill.:; .-,:.... " An^lnteresting memento of Mr Ballance^. in the form of a large; volume comprising all the newspaper articles of this Colony written at the tinie of his death, was presented to Parliament on Thursday by Mr McLean. The report of Colonel Fox ooncerning the Volunteer forces is likely to be laid on the table on Tuesday. , ' The' correspondence between the two Speakers and the Government concerning the proposal to utilise the. time Of officers of Parliament during the recess was submitted to boJjlT on Thursday.
