Wirokino Road Board.

The monthly meeting of the Wirokino Boad Board was held on Thursday last, at the Board's office, Levin. Present — Messrs Kebbell, Gower, Miller and Wallace. The following letters were read : — From Colonial Secretary, stating that the division of the Eoad District into wards was gazetted. From Under-Secretary for Crown Lands, stating that' road through Oturoa Block has been proclaimed. ' From Treasury, stating voucher passed for part of Buckley Road loan. From Robert Whiiey, asking permission to construct a tram alongside of Ohau road. The following resolutions were passed : — That Mr John Davies be elected Chairman of the Board for the ensuing year, and that leave of absence be granted to him for this meeting. That Mr Robert Whiiey be granted permission to erect a tramway along the side boundary of the Ohau roads east and west, subject to the approval of the Board's Inspector, and provided, also that he clears the road Hues, as promised, alongside the tramway. That the report of the Committee appointed to open and accept tenders at Shannon be adopted. That tenders be called for clearing and burningjtll timber and stumps from centre half-chain of Yorkstreet, Levin, the timber to be burnt and not rolled j,side, cost of same to be taken from thirds account. Warden . Gower and Ganger Lynes be empowered to call for tenders and . accept them; also that tenders be called for erecting a fence around, the section occupied by the Board's office. Warden Gower and the Ganger to accept tenders and draw up specifications. That Win. Nicholson be empowered to fall about 18 chains of bush at 80s per acre, upon Bartholomew's road, the cost to be charged to any thirds that may accrue to settlers upon that road ; otherwise to ordinary revenue. That Mr Bartholomew be granted the same assistance re survey of road to his Native block as Messrs Prouse Bros., provided Mr Bartholomew affords help as done by Messrs Frouse. That Mr Scott prepare plans and specifications for the formation of Papaitanga road, and call for tenders, to be in at next meeting. The lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted. That Mr Scott give the Board an estimate of making either one map of Wirokino Road District, or six separate maps, being one for each Ward ; same to be in by next meeting of the Board ; scale to be 20 chains to the inch ; also an estimate of one map compiled from ex-litho-graphers, with the intervening blocks filled in on the same scale. Maps to show riding boundaries. i That Mr Scott prepare specifications for clearing, stumping, and , forming that portion of the Koputaroa road immediately south of the bridge, expenditure not to exceed : £13 15s, to be paid out of thirds now accruing, and that Warden , Gower and the Ganger be empowered to let i the' work/ ' ■■■'.■■- ' That in accordance with a petition presented by Messrs Stuckey' and others to this Board, the Chairman : take all the necessary steps to raise a loan of sufficient amount to construct a road through the upper portion of subdivision No. 8, Hbrowhenua, said loan to include the cost of survey of the road. That steps be taken to fascine that part of the Kingston road now iini passable for traffic, and that power i be given the Wardens to get it done immediately. Special orders were passed re Shannon Ferry road, Shannon East i road and Scott's road loans. Reports by engineer and gangei . were read. i Petition from Shannon residents 1 complaining of nuisance near Albion Hotel was read. • Petition from Mr Stuckey and others re road through subdivision; s of Horowhenua Block was read.— i Times. . ,
