The Queen in favour of the Crinoline.
It will come like a thunderclap upon the opponents of crinoline to find that a modified form of " cage " was worn by both Royal brides — Princess Margaret and the Princess Marie — at tha altar. In each case the jupe was supported by a stiffenedout stuff petticoat formed of tough horsehair, of an alpaca texture, only much harsher. This is really what was worn in 1369, when crinolines were going out. The Queen wore this compromise for some time, but finally abandoned ifc. Curiously enough, there is a great difference of opinion in the Royal Family on the subject of the reintroductiou of crinoline, which the Queen is believed secretly to favour, although when publicly questioned by letter the other day Her Majesty naturally refused to pass an opinion. The Princess of Wales is opposed to it, but the fact that two Princesses of the Royal House, both granddaughters of the Sovereign, have adopted it for their bridal attire is very significant.
