English Strikes.

The Unionists at Grimsby have -undertaken to boycott vessels from Hull. The Seamen's Union intend to fighfc the Shipping Federation at

every possible point. Hall is quiet; Tlie shipping trade at Hull is entirely suspended. All the dockers, seamen and firemen have struck. The Unionists attacked the hands engaged in unloading the steamers, but were repulsed by the police at the point of the bayonet. Mr C. H. Wilson,- the member for Middlesborough, is trying to induce the Home Secretary to disarm the Unionists. He has declined to dismiss the non-Unionists, saying he would prefer to remove his vessels from the port; T*he fia"Vai authorities have been asked to send gunboats td flail to protect the shipping interests, and two gunboats have arrived there. A number of clergymen in Hull waited on the shipowners in connection with the strike. The owners replied that the men's places were still open, provided they agreed to work with non Unionists. The military are guarding the railway and docks. One thousand additional nonUnionists have been sent from -Lou.-, don to Hull. The Daily Chronicle correspondent wires that the town has the appearance of being besieged. The Dockers' Union is penniless and is appealing to the various Trades Unions for funds to enable the fight with the Hull shipowners to be carried on. There is abundance of free labour at Hull, Many of the dockers are resuming work, and the strike gives signs of fizzling out.
