School Girls.

See the troop of girls from aohool Qaily homewards wending, Hear the merry shouts and laughter With their prattle blending. Blue" eyefl— brown eyes— gray eyes— black eye« Brightly look from faees, Whereon yet life's oares and trials Have not left their traces. Mary, Annie, Lilly— Maud, • : And some scores of others, All whose names oan be filled in By their own dear mothers. Little, round, and rosy girls Full of fun and chatter, Troubling not their heads about Any weighty matter. Elder sisters growing up, Maidens tall and slender, Thoughtful, staid, with feelings keen, Sensitive and tender. Happy sohool days ! Having little Of life's oares and worry, School girls should not for their ending Be in any hurry. They will find that Time with them Fast enough is speeding, And may. soon o'er pathways rough Their young feet be leading. What in store for them — we wonder Lies beyond the morrow, What life histories— strangely mingling Many a joy and sorrow ? Will they grow up good, and noble, Pure, and tender hearted ? Will their virtues keep them lovely When from youth they've parted ? Or, alas ! will seeds of evil In some young heart springing, Grow up strong, and rank, and noxious, Sin and sorrow bringing ? None can tell us— He alone Who hath made them knovreth ; This we know, that one can reap Only as one soweth. 0 may now their youthful hearts To their God be given, That they may be safely led In the way to heaven. When our places they shall fill May their aims be higher ; To the one, great, true Exemplar May their lives come nigher. R.D. Foxton.
