United Farmers' Alliance.

Prior to commencing the stock sale at the yards of the Farmers' Alliance on Thursday, Mr R. B. McKenzie, the auctioneer, remarked that as probably he would be retiring from that position shortly, he would avail himself of the opportunity of thanking the shareholders and the public for the liberal support accorded during his connection with the Alliance. So far, the business had been highly satisfactory, and the shareholders had every reason to be satisfied. He was the ouly one who had not made money out of the

sales. Therefore, he had given the directors notice of his desire to terminate the present arrangement as soon as conveniint, and the directors had since invited applications for the position. In the meantime the business, would be conducted as usual. Until he read the new conditions he was unable to state whether he would be an applicant for the auctioneership, but in any case he would assure the shareholders that their interests would not be lost sight of, and that the directors would do all in their power to meet their requirements. He wished, however, to remind shareholders that it depended more on themselves than the directors to make a success of the business. So long as shareholders were alive to their own interests and gave proper support to their own company it was bound to prosper. It was gratifying for him to leave everything for bis successor in a prosperous condition and to be able to say that so -far the business had exceeded the most sanguine expectations.^— Stand int.
