Who was the person.
The N.Z. Times relates the following : —A very funny incident occurred in Wellington postal circles recently. A telegram was received bearing the address ' Kawanatanga, Poneke, Wellington,! and instantly search was made for the above-mentioned individual. No such an address Coitld be found on the books, and a messenger was therefore despatched itiund the various likely hotels . in Wellington' to see it a Native owning such a name, lived, or was known in any of them. The result of the search was that the intelligent messenger obtained the startling information that ' Kawanatanga ' was not known at the Provincial and Royal Hotels; he was, however, at the Wellington Hotel two days previously, but the barman did not know where he had gone to. Foiled in this way, the postal authorities were suddenly struck with an idea ; there was a Native Office in the Government Buildings, why not try there ? The suggestion was imme-diately-carried into effect, and their feelings may be imagined when they were informed that ' Kawanatanga ' was Maori for the Government, and that the telegram had at length reached its proper destination. But who was the person who left the Wellington Hotel two days ago, and of whose whereabouts the barman was ignorant ?
