A Stowaway.
An extraordinary story comes from Bombay. It is told in the Bombay G izette of the Bth inst. That journal announces the arrival there of the famous little pianoforte "prodigy" .losef Hofmanm who is ajleged to have come to India as a stowaway. According to this account j young Hofmann, who has for some years past been studying in Germanjt lf.sk May visited a relative at Cardiff, and suddenly cenceived a desire to see the world on his own responsibility. He was allowed to inspect the sailing ship Buckhnrst, and, stowing himself away he was not discovered until the pilot had left. On the voyage r.und the Cape the young prodigy declares, " I cleaned the brasses and pulled the ropes just like a sailor, and altogether I was -very chappy, and Capt.de (irruchy treated me moat kindly." After discharging cargo at Colombo the Buckhurst sailed for Calcutta to load jute for England/ At Calcutta Hofmann left her, and has since been giving concerts in different parts of India.
