This week has more particularly instanced .the unfortunate position settlers would be placed had we no medical man in our midst. On Wednesday William Goleman, in the employ of Mr Gledhill, fell through the roof of the engine-shed on -to the anvil, in the smith's shop, a drop of twelve feet. . He struck the anvil with his left side, and fractured his left collar-bone, and lacerated the lung. ;He was brought down at once to Foxton and taken to McJKay's boardipg-house, and the services of Dr Dermer secured. We learn that the damage has been severe, and, at present his condition is serious. On Thursday two accidents from being thrown from horses occurred. One, a man A Bacppr who attended court on an assault case, got thrown on a log and was s s6 bruised and shaken that on the adjournment a certificate, from Dr .Denner was handed in, explaining tK? reason of his being unable to attend. Charles Adin got a serious fall when riding home, which caused the dislocation of both bones of the Lit fore-arm. Dr Dermer was again called to attend to this 'sufferer and the fracture was immediately reduced. .,, [^J^iw--,,.-/::
