The Mayoral Election.
Yesterday polling for the two candidates for the office of Mayoi* weuo on very quietly, but tho interest Ri'fiW jnsfc before the close of tho poll by voters coming in from the more distant part of the town Everything Avas conducted most pleasantly and supporters of cither r.ide seen red a free ride. The Returning Officer, T. F. Gibson, Esq., exercised considerable more despatch in the counting of the votes and at a qriarfcer past six declared the result to a small assemblage; Mr McMillan briefly thanked those who had voted for him, but Mr Nye, who bad not expected the an nouncement to have been made till half past six, was not present. Out of 156 names on the roll, every possible voter was got to the poll, the others being absentees or suffering from sickness. Only one informal vote was received.
