TAM O'SHANTER, by Messenger (imp.) — Banshee, by Sir Charles ; gd. imported from Tas mania l»y M chad Studholmo, who lived Bansliee TAM O'SHANTIR is a grey hors'>, ten years old, standing 10 hands 2 inches, possessing great bone and strength. He gained first prize at Ashburton, 1884, first in 1885 and 1880, second in Christchurch in 188G, first in ( hristclmrch 1867 and 1888, and first in Kirwce in 1888. He took first prize at the Ellesmere A. and P. Show. 1889, in Carriage* Class, and special prize for the best Carriage Horse on the ground; fist at Rangiorn, 1889; second at the C. A. and 1 J Association Show, 1889, and Earl Onslow's (Governor of New Zealand) silver medal for the best Carriage Horse on t!:e ground, the prize being awarded to the horse best adapted for improving the breed of carriage horses, and free from all hereditary unaouudness. TAM O'SHANTER has proved hims' If a very sure foal getter. MESSENGER, sire of TAM O'SHANTER, was a bay . horse, standing 16 hands 2 inches liigh, possessing great power, and full of stout and fast blood. Archer, half brother of hie siro, Bottler, was the winner of the Melbourne Cup in two successive years, carrying the top weights nf 9st 71b and lOst 121 b, and was one of the greatest two- mile horses evr-r bred in Australia.
