The Cancer Cure.
Many months ago, says Mr Labouchere in 1 ruth, I expressed my opinion on the transparent and much be - puffed " remedies " of Count Mattei. Those who doubted the correctness of my judgement will do well to read tbe report of the Mattei Investigation Committee in the British Midioal Journal. This Committee consisted of dootors of the highest eminence and probity (among them the late Sir Morell Mackenzie, Mr Lawson Tait and Dr W. G. Potter) and they conducted their inquiry under conditions accepted in the first place, by the Matteists. The result is the ignominious bursting of this grossly inflated bubble. There is literally nothing left of it. There is little doubt that numbei3 of credulous -and impressionable fools, were in their time cured of various diseases by Count Mattel's bottles of distilled water, as similar fools have been cured by similar agencies at all periods of history. Tiiie., Consolation is, however, that each succeeding generation of this large class will always find fresh generations of impostors to cater for it.' . . .
