THE MAYORALTY ELECTION
TO THK EDITOR OF THE SfANAWATU itERAIJ). Stt, — Kindly grant me space for a few lines irt yonl 1 valuable paper oh the above. The choice . betWeefl Messrs Nye and McMillan is purely a personal one. There are no questions of policy involved and I am one who believes in honors of this kind being distributed fairly. 'Mr Nye has done well for the Bovough and his services have been appre* oiatedx Mr McMillan has alsa don 6 well, personally, a great deal more than ever Mr Nye has done, and by his enterprise and energy has done much to assist the progress of the place. His ability for the position is undoubted — he has rendered valu. able service as a Councillor, and is fairly entitled to the honor of being elected Mayor. If one person is to feaye a " seat in perpetuity *' in the Mayoral chair, it will be likely to diaoourage those in future who might be disposed to interest themselves in Borough affairs, and therefore I trust the burgesses will remember this, and place Mr McMillan at the head of the poll. I am, &c, Progress. Foxton, Oct. 22nd, 1892.
