The Russian Government ig again demanding payment of arrears of the Turkish war indemnity. Steps are being taken to meet the deficit by the issue of credit notes. Upwards of two hundred Austrian, Hungarian, and German officers, including several princes and men of high command, joined jn a ride from Berlin to Vienna. Many of the horses broke down on the way. Lieutenant von Mikloss, an Austrian, was the fkst to arrive, covering the distance in 73£ hours. Great interest was taken generally in the event. There is considerable friction between Count D'Aubigny, French Consul, and the Sultan, over the indignities to which the former was subjected by Morocco officers while en route to Fez. The Sultan' of Morocco has indefi • nitely postponed the official reception tion of the French Consul. The mission has been refused supplies. The Catholic churches in Poland are being closed. Six of a band of desperadoes, known as ' the Dalton gang,' robbed two banks in Coffeyville, Kansas, killing four clerks aad wounding three citizens. Five of the robbers, including Dalton, were killed while escaping.
