The School Concert.
We remind our readers that tomorrow night 1 the Concert and Entertainment arranged by the pupils of the State Bchool will be given in the Public Hall. We believe that there will be a regular rush for seats as the tickets have been selling very freely. However apart from thia fact the entertainment shonld be weli patronised for many other
reasons, one being that the whole evening will be occupied by the young performers, in wbich exhibitions, in various forms, of musical, exercises will be given ; there is also a smart little piece of acting in the Beauty and the Beast, in which no trouble has been spared; another reason is that the teachers and above all, Mrs Stewart, has spent a very large amount of energy and patience in getting the children well up in their parts, and the children must be benefitted by these exercises ; another reason is that children enjoy such amusements and should be encouraged in our colonial boast of 14 self-reliance," and they are, if not woiking for their tucker, working to provide funds by which artioles may he purchased to make the play* hours of themselves and their playmates, pass more enjoyable. Such excellent reasons should force every parent who has a child at school, to attend, as well as all the good wishers of our public school. It is a most satisfactory sign of the relations existing between the Headmaster, the teachers nnd their pupils when they all pull together for the good of each other. Let no one put asunder the present pleasant stato by offering the cold shoulder fco to-morrow's efforts. We have not been permitted to view the rehearsals, as the wish appears to be to dazzle us ! with the full execution, but we are most creditably informed that they have been gone throngh mosfc successfully, and fchat all appear as near perfect as can be looked for in such young performers.
