On Tuesday further efforts wera made to get information as to when the Put/lie Works Statement would be brought dfcmn, but it only elecited the reply that the government hoped it would be early next week.
A Bill relating to foreign assurance; and insurance companies was. introduced by message from ' His Excellency the Governor and read the first time. The Public Works Act Amendment Bill was introduced by the Minister for Public Works, and read the first time.
The Premier moved the second reading of the Public Revenues Bill, which, he said, was to provide for the redemption of guaranteed de» bentaitos in London and to reduce Treasury Bills from £476,000 to £450,000.' ;- o -'■;*-. ;;>{
The Bill was read a second time.
The Public Revenues; Bill was referred to the Public Account* Committee for the consideration of claiises 4 and 5.
The Land and Income Tax Amendment Bill was read a second time after some discussion.
The Land for Settlements Bill was further considered in Committee and reported with amendments.
