Strikes.
While an '■ excursion steamer was passing Carnegie's works atjihe Homestead, the . -passengers derided the free men, whom they called blacklegs. Soldiers, in* another Vessel, piir-, sued the excursion steamer, and overtaking her, went on board, , and arrested 25 of the passengers, , ... ,. -., In the struggle several persons were injured.; : •'. A strike occurred on the steamer Tagliaferrq at Melbourne against a reduction of £1 per month al|! round, but the crew was immediately replaced. The Secretary ,of t^e., Seamen's* Union predicts a- great strike; ■■ A strike has occurred on, ,Mi* Nicholls' steamer Tweed at Sydney, against a reduction of wages. A non-union crew was placed on board, but were intimidated. Two other crews were engaged, but were also induced to leave. It is believed the 1 steamship owners will support Nicholls, and it i 8 feared another great maritime" strike is imminent.
