Dramatic Club.
The iseo^nd annual' meefl'Wg'Qf the Foxton Dramatic Club was held on Thursday night at Whyte's Hotel. There: was a ' fair ' attendance! ' of members, and Mr J. E. - 'Stansell, one of the vice-presidents was in the chair. , ; t y , ■ , ( The report and balance . sheet,. , which showed a balance of £3 15s, was passed as read. ' • The election of officers was then proceeded with and resulted as follows :— President; tf. Gi 'Wilson, Esqi, M.H.E. ;< Vice Presidents, Messrs E. 8. Thynne and J.' 5 8. Stansell ; Stagemanager, Mr Alf Fraser; Committee, Messrs J. E. McMillan, P. Curtis, W. B. Ehodes, J. E. Stansell and W. Little ; Caste Committee, Messrs J. Ik <- McMillan.* Alf Fraser ana Gr. Potter ; Treasurer, Mr G. f Potter.;- -, Secretary,, j^TPA I^ Fraser. The following new members were elected :— Mrs Washington Stewart, W. Cook Messrs Eure, and McNicol. It was decided to give a perform anaa at an early dateifbria oh^fitcble' pu^oseF- 'AMn uurivc After some trifling alterations in the rales the meeting closed with the usual vote of thanks to the chair. THE SECOND ANNUAL REPORT OF THE FOXTON AMATEUR DRAMATIC CLUB. The committee in submitting' this the second annual report and balance sheet of the club have much pleasure in congratulating the members on the progress and general success during the past year. Since our last annual meeting our already small list of members has been further reduced by several leaving the district and we would impress upon the club the necessity 1 of enrolling new members, 1 as it is impossible with our present strength io perform any but the smallest forces. , ■ In the past twelve months the club have given four performances namely, " Snowed In " (tit Sanion),
" Bejj of Rose's "and « Borrowed Plumes" and "Just my Luck," 1 (the last piece was played twice, anil each, in every case^was financially a success. " iv Early in the "year the office of stageinanager was rendered vacant by the resignation of Mr H. Woodhanvthe services- of such an" officer have been much missed. . YthMpmmi6te¥ degirtifeiptabb^on record the great assistance rendered to the club by Mr Young in painting scenery for f« Snowed In" and the " Bed of Eoses," also the energetic manner in which the ladies took up the parts alloted to them. In conclusion the committee would point out the great disvantage. the clubjabours .uncler 44 ha^itf-il perform, in a'hallVo aesiituteofscVnery and would suggest that a certain percentage be' deducted off the gross proceeds of all performances for the purchase of scenery and property.
