AN EXPLANATION.
TO THE EDITOR OP THE MANAWATU HIBALD. Sib,— ln your issue of last Tuesday you mention that two American gentlemen went via Kereru to catch the train for New Plymouth. Of course being a Saturday it would appear an erratic or circutous route, but as tho said individuals were going to Wellington and arrived there on Saturday night, they had taken the shortest instead of the longest route from Foxton to Wellington, the distance being Foxton to Wellington via Longburn 103 miles, ditto via Kereru 75 miles. With reference to my not interfering with their line of travel, not being of an inquisitive nature, I do not ask people as a rule when they engage vehioles to go to a given destination what reason they have for going that way. I am, -&c, J. E. Stansell, Proprietor Whyte's Hotel. Foxton, 25th August, 1892.
