Manawatu Herald SATURDAY, AUGUST 6, 1892. Water Supply.
It is with much satisfaction that we refer to the report of the special meeting of the Foxton Borough Council held yesterday. The Councillors were practically unanimous in their desire to secure a good water supply, and Cr Williams objections were based on similar lines to the Mayor's at the committee meeting, namely, that owing to the bad weather we had experienced it was imperative that none of the money set aside for road repairs should be interfered with. We say again that we are entirely with the Mayor and Cr Williams in this, and that their, having being satisfied that no such interference will be caused, should assure the ratepayers that their interests will not suffer Cr Ahern's objection was a practical one, and having been assured that it would receive attention, he took concurred in the action decided upon Thus thera is a chance of Foxton securing pure water in abundance, and though credit is due to all who have from time to tima attempted to secure this blessing, yet much credit is specially duo to Cr McMillan for striking while the iron is hot, and pushing his proposal so quickly thus enabling tho services of practical men to be secured. We hold that if success is attained, the present Councillors will have reason to be proud of their action.
