Iliree men were rendered tin con • fiClduS by the fumes of gas while gleaning out a stove connected with a blast furnace at South Bank, Sunflerland. Dr Glen was sent for, and lie in the most plucky man nor ascended to where the men were working, ajb the top of the stove, which is §of t high. He than lashed hirijsejf to a . rope to prevent his falling, and for fully an hour applied artificial respiration to the men, his efforts being finally crowned with success.
