The ordinary monthly meeting was held at Sanson yesterday. Present -Ci'B Hansom (chairman). Proposed by Cr McKenzie, seconded by Cr Ransom, That the Council do not admit Mr Brook*' claim for damages. Proposed by Cr Ransom, seconded by Cr Saxon, That the Council is of opinion that Mr Brooks' claim for cost of lease of Sandon-Carnarvon Tramway is not admissable, he having agreed to pay for said lease. Proposed by Cr Mitchell, seoonded by Cr Robinson, That J. G. Wilson, Esq., M.H.R., be asked to move that "The Public Works Act," or any other Act bearing on the subject be amended, by giving County Councils or any local bodies having a ferry within their district greater power re leasing ferries for one or more years, also giving local bodies power of extending boundaries as a protection to ferries.
Proposed by Cr Masters, seconded by Cr Saxon, That the overseer be instructed to inspect the cutting on the Cemetery road, opposite Mr Scarrow's property, and report to next meeting. Proposed by Cr Saxon, seconded by Or Masters, That fresh tenders be called for clearing -scrub, flax, and toi from sides road between Sandon and Awahuri, and from Awahuri to Feilding. .'Proposed by Cr McKenzie, seconded by Cr Hammond, That fresh tenders be called for working the tramway, to be in by next nweting, and that the Chairman be authorised to make arrangements for working the. tram until that date.
Proposed by Or Eanaom, seconded by Or McKenzie, That application be made to the Colonial Secretary to have the time extended for preparation of founty rolls, it having been impossible to "get them ready by the dat* fixed by "The Counties Act, 1886," on account of non-reoeipt of valuations from the Commissioner of Taxes,
