A Palmerston Bankruptcy.

A meeting of creditors in the estate of W. Hudsen, grocer, adjudicated bankrupt, by, creditors' petition, was held at Palmerston North, on Thursday afternoon. The estate is mixed up with Littlejohn's, whose business Hudson took over, but did not complete the purchase. On the 22nd June Hudson went to Wanganui, and then to New Plymouth, with his wife, they having about £500 cash with them. When he reached New Plymouth, where his wife was ill, he learned that he had been adjudicated a bankrupt, and the police informed him that a warrant was about to be issued for his arrest. He returned here, and is taking steps to upset the adjudication. The liabilities were stated by the Assignee at £1400, and the assets at £777. The debtor said he had merely been taking a journey on business, and to get the benefit of the Hot Springs for his wife, but could not explain

why he had not banked any takings since May 18, or, why he was taking so much cash with him. The creditors instructed the Assignee to realise the business and take steps to recover £300 given by the debtor to his wife;
