1.0. G.T.

The regular weekly meeting of the " Try 4"am " Lodge, I 0 G.T., was held on Thursday evening in the Masonic Hall, an ! was as usual largely attended. This lodge, we are informed, has been growing steadily in numbers and influence since its re-opening in May last, not a single meeting having been hold w'thout the enrolment of several new members. Five candidates were initiated on Thursday night and fully a dozen more have sent forward thoir names and have been duly elected for admission at an early date. Id addition to the usual temperance work and instruction of the Order, a carefully arranged pro gramme of readings, recitations, addresses, songs, and instrumental music is carried out at each meeting, many of, the performers possessing varied talent of a high class and using it cheerfully for the general good. At the close of the meeting on Thursday night touching and sympathetic reference was made by the Chief Templer and others to the recent deaths of J.ady Fox and Mr Kobert McLean, and the Chief Templer was instructed to forward on behalf of the Lodge, letters of condolence and sympathy to Sir William Fox and Mrs McLean. Though not at one with the Good Templars in all points, we feel bound to congratulate them on much of the work they have been doing of late in this district.
