Salvation Farm Colony.

+ It will be interesting reading, in view of perhaps some of ' General ' booth's " colonists " coming to this Colony to give sonic c&fcraets from " The Full Salvation " of the Farm Colony at Hadleigh, Essex, England. The farm now comprises 1500 acres; Possession was obtained on the Ist May 1891; There are now SOG men employed; The. land Was out of cultivation, arid irl a very' neglected .condition, and improvements in the shape of draining, hedge-trimming and manuring are now being made. It is said that every foot of the land can be made good and valuable property. The market garden department are now plauting 35 acres ill fruit trees, portion of the land being on a hill side, and the whole has been trenched two fe,et deep by the spade. The buildings have taken, time and money. In the first settlenierit seven 1 dormitories to sleep 350 men, a dining room to seat 370, and a kitchen have been erected, There are also a reading-room and library, and a barrack capable of seating 700 people. Seven houses have been built fov the superintendents, and managers. 'J ha piggeries have pccommodation for 50 sows and their progeny ; then there is the dairy, blacksmiths shop, wheelwright's and joiner's shops. There is also a hospital. On another portion of the estate is West Hill house, the centre of chicken and rabbit raising operations, surrounded by a rabbit-proof wire fences, and innumerable hatches, coops, &c. Five hundred eggs are hatched at a time.
