We have to thank the hon. Secretai-y of the Horowhenua Jockey Club for a complimentary ticket for their race meeting on Tuesday next. A good deal of interest is being taken by atheletes in We'lington, Wanganui, and the Manawatu districts in a hurdle rac > which is to come off at Wanganui, on th? 23rd inst., between W. H. Arnott, of Wellington, and James Better of Parawanui, for a stake of £50. The distance will he 120 yards, and Arnotl has agreed to concede Better 10 yards. The match is the outcome of the hurdle race at Feilding on Boxing Day, whrm Better, who had 10 yards start, fell and ; lost his chance of winniug, Arnott securing the prize from scratch.
