Alleged Sly-Grog Selling In Palmerston.
As the outcome of a search of two houses in Palmerston by the police on Friday morning, informations for sly grog-selling will be laid against two women named Emma Hill and Cecilia Jaeobsen. The house of Emma Hill, in Shorlistreet, was first searched by Sergeant Manning and Constable Isemongev, with the result that three case? of various kinds of liquor were found on the premises. The house of Cecilia Jacobsen in Albert-street was next searched, but no liquor of any kind discovered. Sergeant Manning's suspicions being aroused, a third search warrant was procured, and the house adjoining,, in the occupation of a Mrs Piokering, was raided, with the result that a quantity of liquor — champagne, brandy, whisky, beer, &c— was found, stowed away in beds and under the house. The liquor from both places was removed to the Police Station. — M. Times.
