The following correspondence waa read : — INWARDS. Department of Lands, enclosing copy of proclamation vesting control of the Awahuri Bridge in Manawatu Road Board. Rangitikei County Council —In compliance with the request of the Rangitikei Small Bird Nuisance Club this Council would bring under your notico the necessity which exists for united action being taken by the settlers on both sides of the Rangitikei river for the eradication of the small bird nuisance. It is thought that by the establishment of clubs within your county and the Manchester and Kiiriteaßoad Board
districts to act in conjunction with 'the Rangitikei club much more execution could be effected in dealing With the trouble that can be done Under the present system. Jalmersfcon Hospital notifying the resignation of Mr E. B. McKenzie. Same, stating it was resolved that the contributing local bodies be requested to distribute Charitable Aid on behalf of the board until other arrangements can be. made. Strang Bros, asking to have their names placed on the rate roll. E. 0. Clark forwarding price of pipes. Telegraph Department requesting an officer of the Council to riieet ah officer of the department at Awahuri to point out the poles on the road considered unsafe to travellers. VV. A. 13 rook requesting early attention to the Oroua Bridge Main Drain road. Pascal Bros drawing attention to the delapidated state of the bridge over the Oroua river. P. H. Luxford for himself and father offering that if the Council agree to erect and maintain a seven wire fence on one side of the road, viz ; the side on which the drain will be such fence to be contained through section 73 from point of diversion and through the Native reserve, they will have no objection to the line of road to be as proposed by the Council. A. Bruce asking Council to clear scrub off the road to the cemetery. W. Hunter stating that all the gorse on the roads bounding the Carnarvon estate had been cleared except the Flaxmore line. For this he was not liable as Messrs E. & D. McKenzie and Dalton who occupy adjoining land had been using fence as boundary and by clause '22 of " The Fencing Act " were liable for their side of the fence. He had mentioned this to Mr E. McKenzie who had immediately cut and grubbed his portion. W. S. Eowe stating that Holland and Rogers had left all gates and bridges in proper order. W, Phillips informing the Council that the farmers of the district had formed a small bird nuisance club and asking what aid the club may receive from the Council, A. McHardie asking to be allowed to take stripping from gravel pit to mend a private road.
