Presentation to Mr Peter Bartholomew.
Last Friday evening the many friends of Mr Peter Bartholomew met at Feilding and presented him with 25 volumes of the lincyclopedia Britannic each volume bearing the inscription : " To Peter Bartholomew, a parting gift trorn his Feilding friends, 1891 " ; to Mrs Bartholomew, a gold brooch and earrings set with diamonds. Mr Macarthur, M.H.U., who was appointed to mako the presentation, said, addressing Mr Bartholomew, that he had beeu deputed to present him with those books as a token of their esteem aud regard on his Searing Feilding. In severing his connection with the town he still re taioed the affectionate regard of all who had known him since he first came to the settlement. Mr Bartholomew's residence dated from the early days, while the bush where they then stood was unbroken. Mr Macarthur was able to bear testi niony to the hearty co-operation Mr Bartholomew was always ready to give in every good wor!c for the benefit of the people. His departure would leave a void in their midst which would never be filled. Mr Maearthur conclude! by wishing their guest, and Mrs Bartho'omow. all health and prosperity in future.
