Fifth — The operations of the year ! raised the animal income of the j society from £1 512,280 to £1,625---185. an increase in twelve months of £112,905. Fixth — he accumulated fund was increased during the year by the sum of £742,811, equal to 71 per cent, of the gross premiums received. Seventh — The deaths among lives assured were G49 under 735 policies, causing claims upon tho Society amounting to £299,602 irrespective of Bonus additions, while the number exs ected according to the Tables us*d in estimating the liabihtirs would have been 1143, for an amount of £488,976, the mortality experience being thus extremely favourable. Eighth — The receipts from interest and rents were £516,832, an amount exceeding the sum paid for the cairns by f188,952. Ninth— The expenses of management w«>re only 9.5 per cent, of the total receipts, Teoth — The cash surp'us divided for the year 1889 was £426,494, being at the rate of 41.5 percent, on the premiums received.
