17 OXTON BOROUGH COUNCIL. HOTiCE TO HOUSEHOLDERS. Housoholders are Warned under the provisions of "The Public Health Act 1876 " that Immediate notice must be given to the Council if any person within the house is taken sick of a highly infectious disease. The penalty for refusing or neglecting to do so is a fine not exceeding £10. If any person fails to disinfect any house or articles beholds himself liable to a fine not exceeding £1 a day for every day ho continues to make such default. The Council has power to disinfect any premises or articles not so disinfected by" the houseowner and to recover the cost of so doing in a summary manner. Any person knowingly lets a house, room, or part of a house in which any person has been suffering from any dangerous infectious disorder without having the same disinfected to the satisfaction of a legally qualified medical practitioner will be liable to a penalty not exceeding £20. Any person making a false answer, for the purpose of letting a house or room, as to the fact of there being or within six weeks having been, any' person suffering from an infectious disease on his premises, iff liable to a penalty of £20 or to imprisonment for one month. Any person while suffering from any infectious disorder wilfully exposes himself without proper precautions against spreading such disorder, in a public place or conveyance, or being in charge of such sufferer, exposes such sufferer, or lends, sells, transmits, or exposes without previous disinfection any bedding, clothing or other things exposed to infection, will be liable to a fine of £5.
