The Shooting Season.
♦ ■ - It is notified in the Gazette that native game, excepting tui, huia, white heron, and crested grebe, may be taken or killed within the Wellington District, consisting of the Counties of Hutt, Wairarapa North, Wairarapa South, Pahiatua, Horowhenua, Oroua and Manawatu, from the 15th April to the 31st July. Cock-pheasants, Californian quail and hares may be killed also from the 15th April to 81st July, only it is necessary to obtain a license to take or kill this game, the fee for which is twenty shillings. Licenses can be obtained from the Postmasters at Foxton, Otaki, and other towns within the Wellington Acclimatisation District.
