Fourth — The net increase to the business, aftoi- cllowinff for loss of income from trtminated Policies, was represented b\ 7028 polioies,nssuring £2,109.1C9. Fifth— The operations of (he year raided the nrnn«l income of ihe society from £1 512,280 to £1,G25---185. nn increase in twelve months of £112,905. Fjjctii-^- he aceumulft'ed fund was increased during the year by the sum of .6742,811. equal to 71 per cent, of the gross premiums received . Seventh— The- deaths araongjiyes assured were C 49 under 785 polioio*, rauhing claims, upon the Society amounting. to £299,602 irrespective of Bonus additions, while the number exrected according to the Tables used in estimating the liabilities would have been 1143, for an amount of £488,976, the mortality experience being thus extremely favourable. EioiiTn — The receipis from interest and rents were £516,882, an amount exceeding the sum paid for the c'aims by S 188,952. Ninth— The expenses of management were only 9.5 per cent, of the total receipts. Texth — The cash surp'us divided for the year 1889 was £426,494, being at the rate of 41 5 percent, on the premiums received.
