Church Bazaars.
A novel and decidedly taking attraction for church bazaars is thus amusingly described by an American correspondenfc: -At a town situate a few miles from Buffalo, in the State of New York, there is a church whose memhevH a Ifew days since decided to hold a. boaaar with the object of raising tfuwds, which latter "were badly winted. It was whispered abroad that special inducements would be offered the mate members of the church awl community and thus obviate any excuse for close fistedness. On the evening of the opening the 'sterner sex rolled up in large numbers. So did their wives and ofcW interested female relatives. At "a given signal a curtain was.withdrawn, and then were disclosed, upon a raised platform, six of the most charming girls of the congregation, attractively dressed, and having bub* pended round each, jiair neck a placard upon which was plainly printed the following;— "You may Was me for 25 cents." It Was a tremendous success, after the first five minutes of hesitation. It " caught on " splendidly. Deacons and teachers outdid their own sons and scholars in the wild rush. The isiiver quarters fell in showers. Some respected and elderly members tried Bach ono. At the end of half an hour the curtain fell. Then there was chaos. The wives objected to the whole affair. There were retorts and hot words, and these increased to something stronger when it was announced the performance would be repeated in an hour's time Donnybrook Fair never approached the next ten minutes^ The curtains were torn down, the gas was turned out, cries of wrath were heard folIlowed by faintly muttered protests, and, finally, the bazaar, commenced under such happy auspices, was closed. There is now a schism in the churoh, and no service was held there last Sunday.
