SHANNON CORRESPONDENT.

(TO THK EPITOB OP THE MANAWATU HERALD). Sir, — With your permission, Mr Editor I will fill a small space of" your paper. In the issue of March 10th, I notice from your Shannon correspondent that wonderful strides have been made at Shannon. The Church is nearly at the top of the list of improvements. Whether onr Shannon correspondent thinks this an improvement, or whether he thinks it a place of derision, we may safely say that nothing is qualified to give a place a good name, and ele. vate the residents of any place mor£ than true worship of the God who created us. It is weU we have some who attend the house of God, or the whole community would be crying out " We are worse than heathen," even if they come to listen to the cockatoos expatiating on the glory, &c , &o. We are in great need of more glory and we only wish your correspondent and a host of others were converted into like cockatoos, and we would not have so muoh work for our Constable nor onr J's.P., and our reports of Shannon, too, would be of a different, character. We are glad that the Shannon choir can beat Foxton so easily, though

the writer be a resident of Foxton, for such singing is very much needed as a counterbalance for the element which has not too much of the angelic touch in it. Come rt nd listen to the Champion eiioir, the cockatoos and the real parson. We believe in reality Let us try and make Shannon, a real place.— l am, Ac, R. Raise.
