The results of the business for the Forty-first year, ending 31st December! 1889, may be summarised as unfler : — First— Tho number of the new policies issued was 11,064. Second —'l ho new Assurance business effected was for £8,879,459. TninD-Tbo new Annual Pre* mmm Income amounted t0<8121,800. FouKTn — The net increase to the business after blowing for loss of income from terminated Policies, was represented by 7028 policies,nssnring £2,109.190. Fifth— Tho operations of the year raised the annual income of the society from £1 512,280 to £1,625---185. nn increase in twelve months 0f>8112,000. Vixth — bo nccumulft'ed fond was increflfiod during the year by the sura oi' £742.811, equal to 71 per cent, oi tbe gross premiums received. Seventh— The deaths among lives assured wero 049 under 785 policies, cawing claims upon tho Society amounting to £299,002 imspective of Bonus additions, while the number cxi ecteil according to the Tables used in estimating tho liabilities would have been 1143, for an amount of £438,976, the mortality experience being thus extremely favourable. Eighth — The receipis from interest and rents were £516,882, an amount exceeding the sum paid foi the claims by $ 188.D52. Ninth— The expenses of management were only 9.5 per cent, of tht total receipts.
