Foirm'iv — The net increase to the business, aft or Allowing for loss of income from terminated Policies, was represented by 7028 policies,assuring £2,109.109. " Fn-TH— The operations of tho year raised the annual income o£ »he society from .£1*512,280 to A'l,fi2S--185. nn increase in twelve months of £112,905. ! > c ixth — '' he accumulated fnnd was I increased during 1 the year by the sum of £742,811, equal to 71 per cent, of the gross premiums re-' ceived. Seventh — The deaths amonglives assured were 049 under 78^ policies, causing claims upon the Society amounting to £299,602. irrespective , of Bonus additions, while the number expected according to the Tables used in estimating the liabilities would have been 1143, for an amount of £488,976, the mortality experience being thus extremely favourable. Eighth — The receipts from interest and rents were £516,882, an amount exceeding the sum paid for the claims by f 188,952. Ninth— The expenses of management were only 9.5 per cent, of the total receipts. Tenth — The cash surplus divided for the year 1889 was £426,494, being at the rate of 41.5 percent, on the premiums received.
