Special Settlement. .
A meeting of those persons wishing to form a Special settlement Associa* tion was held in the Sample Boom of Whyte's hotel last night. Over thirty were present, and Mr Ray was voted to the chair. The meeting was convened by Mr W. G. Robinson who placed what information he had received from the government at the service of those present It was evident from the tenor of the conversation that an earnest desire existed to obtain land, but the terms under the perpetual lease system, entailing compulsory residence, after two years, was very much objected to, for bush land. Twenty five persons put their names down as desirous of obtaining land but left the questions as to the conditions duch land could be taken up to Messrs Robinson and Ray to obtain further information, and also as to what other lands were open for selection. It was left to these two geutlemen to call another meeting when they were ready to report.
