The results of the business for the Porfy-first year, ending 81st December. 1889, may be summarised as unfar: — First — The number of the new policies issued was 11,664. Second —The new AFSuranca-busi? ness effected was for £8,679,459. Third- The new Annual Premium Income amounted to £121,800. Fotjbth — The net increase to the business, after allowing, for loss of income from terminated Policies, was represented by 7028 policies,assuring £2,109.199. Fifth— The operations of the year raised the annual income of the society from £1 512,280 to £1,625---185, an increase in twelve months of £112,905. p dcth — '' be accumulated fond was increased during the year by the sum of £742,811, equal to 71 per -Mit. of the groBS premiums revived. Seventh — The deaths amongliyes • assured were 649 under 785 p' ( licias, anoing claims upon • the Society amounting to £299,602 irrespective of Bonus additions, while the number expected according to the Tables used in estimating the liabilities would have been 1143, for an amount of £488,976, the mortality experience being thus . extremely i favourable. , Eighth — The receipts from interest and rents were £516,882, an amount exceeding the sum paid for .be claims by i* 188,952. Ninth— The expenses of management were only 9.5 per cent, of the i total receipts.
